Definition of Satya:
Satya is a Sanskrit word that means truth. In the Vedas and Sutras the meaning of the word Satya evolved into an ethical concept of truthfulness. It is considered an important virtue that means being true and consistent with one’s thought and action.
In yoga, one of the five Yamas is Satya which refers to avoiding falsehood, avoiding distorting reality, or avoiding expressions and actions in which we avoid expressing the truth.
