Kama definition:
Kama, son of Vishnu and Lakshmi, is the god of desire. He is represented armed with a bow, whose string is made up of bees; these produce honey, which symbolizes desire itself. Next to the bow it carries five arrows with different flowers that represent the five senses: lotus, ashoka, mango, blue lotus and jasmine.
Kama, at the request of Parvati, shot God Shiva with one of his arrows during his meditation. However, when Shiva perceived the arrow, he was distracted, and realizing what had happened, he became enraged and opened his third eye, setting fire to Kama, which was reduced to ashes.
After his death, the gods decided to interfere out of fear that the world would become numb. Along with Parvati’s intervention, they managed to get Shiva to bring him back to life, but without physical form, only as a mental image.
