Definition of Dharma:
In Hinduism Dharma is the concept of the behaviors that people should follow in Society. These behaviors include obligations and rights, laws, etc., that follow an order which allows life to develop, and the Cosmos to have a place to stand.
Dharmas are the universal laws that govern human nature, and that are the reflection of the balance that exists between human life and the universe itself. At the cosmic level we interpret that the laws of the Dharma move in a regular and cyclical way, that is why the Dharma appears represented as a wheel that turns eternally.
The Wheel of Dharma Appears on the Indian flag, as this symbol reminds us that no one and nothing escapes these cosmic laws that govern everyone and everything.
On a human level, we understand the Dharma as the ethical and moral duty, even spiritual, that every person has to follow. On the other hand, though, people also have to choose the Dharma path.
There are multiple Hindu texts called Dharma-Sastras that tell us about the concept of duty.
Hindus call their concept of religion or spiritual path Sanatana Dharma (the path of duty).
