Tadasana, a great way to activate the first Chakra

por Enmanuel Torras Mata

1.- Principles of Tadasana

Tadasana or the posture of the mountain ⁣is the sanskrit name of a fundamental Asana of Yoga, and it is referential over all other Asanas. As a fact to keep in mind, ⁣this is the initial and final position of all the sequences of Suryanamaskar or greeting to the Sun; in addition to its use as a resting posture between more strenuous Asanas.

Become aware of your body position thanks to the powerful Tadasana.

The term is derived from two sanskrit rootstada, which meansmountain” and Asana which means “seat“, or “posture“.

Although it appears no different than simply standing, tadasana is an active pose, in which the practitioner engages in awareness of the muscular activation of the pose, and holding their attention to quiet the mind.

We can conclude that the name of Tadasana is the “mountain pose“.

2.- Everything you need to know about⁣ ⁣Tadasana

2.1.- The practice of Tadasana

Tadasana is physically and mentally based and can be used as a means of promoting stability in the body and mind. By helping the practitioner to form a connection with the earth, Tadasana stimulates the Muladhara Chakra, providing a sense of security and groundedness.

In addition,⁣⁣ ⁣although practicing Tadasana favors developing concentration, some yoga schools recommend focusing on a point in front of you to maintain balance, or even close your eyes as a way of approaching Consciousness.

Tadasana helps cultivate stillness, strength, and promotes a sense of power, emanating from Muladhara.

A more advanced version of tadasana involves the participation of the three⁣ bandhas⁣⁣⁣⁣ (or energy closures) which are:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Mula Bandha,⁣⁣⁣⁣ Uddiyana Bandha and⁣⁣ ⁣⁣Jálandhara Bandha.

To help you during the⁣⁣⁣ ⁣practice used to activate the first Chakra Muladhara, we recommend using a suitable incense from our online store tantrayogashop.

2.2.- Tadasana strengthens the Muladhara Chakra

The use of Yoga to manifest the Chakras is a way used to achieve inner peace and harmony. Chakras are components of our material and non-material body, which are taken into account in the effort to polish our spirituality and modulate our intellect. All the effort we make will be reflected in a physical and mental improvement, improving our behavior towards existence.

“Muladhara Chakra is the first of the Chakras, considered the root, the base: the connection with the inexhaustible source of Kundalini energy.”

Muladhara is the first Chakra, which is associated with Earth and red. It forms the core where Kundalini resides and promotes the survival instinct. Muladhara is responsible for keeping us physically and emotionally rooted with ourselves and with external reality.

3.- Benefits

The physical body becomes more proportionate.⁣ ⁣The healing magnetism of the palms is intensifying. If Tadasana is practiced during adolescence, height can be gained.

4.- Contraindications

Tadasana is a safe position with almost no contraindications. However, if you suffer from low blood pressure and hold this position for too long, you may experience various symptoms including dizziness. If you happen to go through one of the symptoms which you lose vision or the above, we strongly recommend that you take a break and return to the starting position.

Tadasana is a safe posture, without contraindications to highlight.

If you suffer shoulder injuries, perform Tadasana with caution, remembering not to keep your arms raised for a long time so that you do not cause any injury. Asanas should be relaxed and without forcing the body. If you have knee problems, keep your heels closer together to avoid problems.
