Definition of Hetera:
Hetaerae o Hetera, It comes from ancient Greek and means “companion”. In classical Greece, some appreciated women of the upper classes, who acted as companions, socialites and prostitutes, were called in this way.
Unlike most of the women of classical Greece, they obtained an education and came to acquire a position within society. They were the only women who could participate in the meetings of politicians, philosophers, artists, etc., and their opinion was accepted, enjoying consideration.
