Definition of Brahmacharya:
Brahmacharia is a concept within Hinduism, which means “on the path of Brahman”. In Hinduism or yoga refers to the practitioner who makes a renunciation in his life, which is characterized by continence or abstinence from sexuality.
Brahmacharia is different from the concept of western celibacy, as it does not focus on dismissing the energy that comes from sexuality. The Brahmacharia is the person who has transcended his mind through elasceticism.
In the context of Hinduism, Brahmacharia is the first of the four stages (or Ashramas) in the life of a Brahmin, or Hindu priest.
It could be interpreted as the “study stage” of the Shadaka, although its meaning is the one who moves with God, being Brahma “God”, and charia “the one who moves (or lives) with”.
In some of the Hindu monastic orders, a Brahmacharia is the monk who has not yet taken the final vows of Sannyasa, the step prior to becoming a renunciate Swami. Traditionally a Brahmacharise identifies by wearing orange or yellow clothes.
